00:00:00 – 00:00:10 | Introduction to Fort Collins Community

Fort Collins has a great dynamic of diversity within the community.
And as a small business accountant I think the world has found that out and it’s a great place to do business.
It has the university, Colorado State University, roughly 30,000 students that go there.

00:00:10 – 00:00:29 | Brewery Industry

And all of the pieces that are combined with that, we have the brewery industry, which is alive and well.
I think we still have the title for most beer per capita produced.
So I must visit it!
So between Anheuser-Busch and New Belgium, several other ones that were just, we have a lot of pieces in that regard.

00:00:29 – 00:01:05 | Tech and Alternative Energy Industries

And then the tech industry with Hewlett-Packard and related.
There’s a lot of businesses there and now a very big developing industry in the, I call it the alternative energy stuff.
So solar, wind, other things, a lot of manufacturing and a lot of alternative energy businesses.
A lot of tech going on in design and manufacturing is usually done in surrounding communities.
A lot of the design of microchips and other pieces for computers, or they have a testing lab.

00:01:05 – 00:01:22 | Colorado State University Support

Colorado State is really good with helping small businesses and working in coordination with their professors, working with private industry.
So there’s a lot of that going on and there’s testing facilities and such here too.
So all of those things kind of work hand in hand, Colorado State the university, although COVID, I think has kind of hit some things, but generally speaking, their employment base stays pretty similar.

00:01:22 – 00:01:46 | Resilience of Fort Collins Businesses

Tech industry kind of goes up and down and people drink beer when they’re happy and drink beer when they’re sad.
So that one’s good too.
And so we are not really affected as much when the country goes into a slump.
I’ll just say that.

00:01:46 – 00:02:06 | Vibrant Community and College Town Atmosphere

So that’s a very vibrant area personally, for me, I love places, communities that have universities in them.
They keep that younger vibe within the community and keep things going well and interesting and different all the time.
And it’s not a university-only town.
The community is about 180,000 plus 30,000 students.
So it’s, it’s a bit of a college town in that respect.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value After years of trying to find a good accounting firm, we got started with Steve and his team a few years ago and I must say, it's one of the single best things we've done for our business. The help that we've received navigating through COVID, PPP loans, subsequent tax credits, and other financial challenges have been invaluable, and having somebody looking at our books and maintaining our financials has been a business saver for us. Steve and Angie have become more than accountants for us, they've become trusted advisors. I highly recommend Steve Wick & Associates for your accounting needs. They rock!

Steve Wick is a very talented CPA. I wish I would have found him years before I did. He takes time to get to know you – his business is clearly focused on relationships. Steve understands the “numbers” and as he says, they tell the story of where we’ve been, but more importantly he looks beyond the numbers to help you see why the numbers are the way they are. He digs in and helps you discover hidden roadblocks and bottlenecks and shows you how to bust through to the next level. I highly recommend Steve as not only a great numbers CPA, he’s also a remarkable financial strategist and profit improvement coach.
